Potential causes
There may be many different causes of back pain and in certain cases the source may be difficult to diagnose. Various injuries can simply cause to sprain or spasms in the muscles or the ligaments. Sources may include athletics, accidents, job stress or any other mishaps. Repeated injuries can also result in the formation of scar tissue often vulnerable to
additional injuries in the near future.
Poor posture also increases the vulnerability of muscles to the types of stresses that may cause back pain. Too much of bending or lifting heavy objects may act as a common source to trigger back pain. Emotional stress may also be one of the causes. Poor muscle tone in the back and abdomen area often may leave back vulnerable to stresses and injuries.
Age may also act as one of the factor in triggering back pain as body often looses its elasticity with age. As people age, their intervertebral discs begin loosing fluid making it less flexible and more prone to injuries.
Certain illness and disorders are also thought of as being associated with back pain. These may include Herniated disc, Sciatica, Degenerative disc, Spinal stenosis, Arthritis, Skeletal irregularities and Osteoporosis are just a few that can be added to the list. Certain diabetic conditions may also cause back pain. Certain back pain which do not involve neurological symptoms may disappear without actual medical care. If the pain does not get resolved completely within 72 hours, then the patient should consult their physician immediately without delay.
