Heat or cold therapy
Heat or cold therapy is always advisable. If pain does not get resolved in a few days then consulting a physician would be the best option. Certain tests can be performed. Bed rest can be one of the best option. Mild exercises can be an added advantage to subside pain. One can also try wearing back brace to support the spinal. A myelogram can be performed to notice the space between the spinal vertebrae. A scanner can also be helpful in detecting spinal problems.
Non-surgical treatment would be the best solution. Surgery would only be a second option. Factectomy, foraminotomy or even spinal laminectomy can be suggested by the physician. Such attempts are carried out to reduce pressure on the nerve roots. A discretomy may be performed to remove portions of the protruding disc. Sometimes spinal fusion or fastening of vertebrae may be performed to restrict movement in the affected area.
In case of mental stress, spinal fusion may be extreme resulting in inappropriate relief from the pain. Most of these procedures involve micro surgery where the surgeons use a microscope with a very small incision.
In such surgery pain is usually less at the site during recuperation. One will be able to leave the hospital sooner and return to their normal way of life.
Surgical insertion into the spine is also another alternative for overcoming back pain usually in the lower part of the body. In this procedure a small electro stimulation device is inserted that would deliver small amount of electric current in the infected area. Such method will be very effective in elimination pain from your back. It is not necessary that the pain may come from the spine. The problem may be from elsewhere resulting in the back pain.
The necessary treatment should be performed after a few tests to identify the problem. Only after that should the diagnose be given.
